WeChat, the Chinese application, partners with TMB
Public transport in Barcelona will be accessible to Chinese tourism through the WeChat platform. TMB and the Europass company work together to position the Hola Barcelona brand in the tourist market of the Asian giant. TMB is the first mobility operator in Spain to market its products through this social channel, known as WhatsApp Chinese. Other precursors and pioneers in introducing this application in Barcelona was Casa Batlló including WeChat Pay in its payment platform.
TMB wants to discover tourists of Chinese nationality, the attractions of Barcelona and earn income from the sale of products created for mobility. Visitors from China can now buy their tickets from the main official transport in Barcelona through the WeChat application, used by 900 million users daily in China.
TMB will offer, in the application, tourist tickets: Hello Barcelona Travel Card of 48 hours, 72 hours, 96 hours and 120 consecutive hours of unlimited travel by public transport in Barcelona; also the tickets of the Barcelona Bus Turístic – which takes you on a route through the most emblematic sites of the Montjuïc Cable Car care.
The first step has been to create a profile of Hola Barcelona in the application, the umbrella brand of TMB that groups all its mobility and leisure products and services for the visiting public of the city of Chinese origin. This will mean an increase in mobility improvement for Chinese tourism, and Passeig de Gràcia will benefit as an important part of the city’s attractions.
