Nivell Zero at the Fundació Suñol presents ACT 34: The Other City, a series of weekly screenings from 22 July and 8 October 2016 based on a thematic selection of works from the OVNI Archives. These documentaries and pieces of video art provide multiple readings of the concept of the city and offer complex, antagonistic insights into 6 different Mediterranean metropolises. Most of the times we recommend to spend the weekends and afterwork on the rooftops of the most luxurious hotels at Paseo de Gracia, but this time we have something different, always keeping Barcelona in mind, we want you to discover the city from all the angles and there’s no best way to do it than visiting the new exposition at Fundació Suñol, Acto 34: La Ciudad Otra. Archivos OVNI. The six works featured in the show shine a torch into the dark corners of cities such as Barcelona, Cairo, Casablanca, Marseille, Naples and Beirut. Each video will be screened as a looped projection at Nivell Zero on a given day of the week. In parallel, visitors can also watch eight documentaries on demand on two computers in the gallery. On this occasion, the works selected for ACT 34 at Nivell Zero focus on analysing the concept of the city as a diverse, living, alternating phenomenon. Seen through this prism, the other city is an imagined, dreamed, stifled, revolutionised, abandoned place that eschews the neoliberal paradigm of the metropolis as a stage for doing business and disdains the identical, cloned theme-park cities found in so many places across the world.
