Information on Security of the Passeig de Gràcia Association

Guàrdia Urbana Police Station
After repeatedly requesting the need for an office that could collect the reports of the different crimes that take place in Passeig de Gràcia, the Guàrdia Urbana (our local police department) has set up a specific area for the filing of reports at the police station that is located in the district of Ciutat Vella, specifically in Carrer la Rambla, 43. Currently, to file a complaint, you must go to the police stations in Plaça Espanya or Estació del Nord, both of which are far from the center. With this expansion, we have a closer place to file complaints, which we hope will also reduce the waiting time for complainants.
Mossos d’Esquadra
Likewise, and in line with our repeated requests to have a complaints office in a central point of Barcelona, we got through the PSC that the Parliament of Catalonia unanimously approved the reopening of the former police station of Plaza Catalunya. After the impossibility of occupying these premises, the Conselleria d’Interior and Mossos d’Esquadra have finally announced that they plan to open, from October, a new Public Attention Office located at the confluence of Aragó Street and Girona Street.
This is undoubtedly good news that comes at last to satisfy our historical demand. We will follow up the implementation and the care of the victims in several languages.

Security Cameras
Finally, we are pleased to inform you that we have been working for months with the City Council on a project to install video surveillance cameras in Passeig de Gràcia. According to the conversations held so far, the Association of Passeig de Gràcia would be in charge of the cost of the cameras and the City Council, for its part, of the civil work and the viewing and maintenance of them. Initially, 17 chambers would be installed in different strategic points of Passeig de Gràcia, with the possibility of increasing the number of units in the future. In September, we will call a meeting of all the associates to be able to evaluate the situation and to collect your opinions in this respect.
