Amics del Passeig de Gràcia celebrates its annual dinner and 12th edition of Amic del Passeig de Gràcia Awards

On 30th June, Amics del Passeig de Gràcia Association held the annual members dinner and the 12th edition of Amic del Passeig de Gràcia Awards at Hotel Casa Fuster being the meeting point of more than 130 attendees including authorities, institutions, members and collaborators of the Association.
The event began with a welcome cocktail on the terrace deck of the hotel and later went to the salon Domènech i Montaner where dinner was served. As is tradition, at the beginning of dinner, the executive team gave the distinctive pin of the Association to all members who have joined in the past year. During the dinner, the Asosoation gave the Amic del Passeig de Gràcia Award, which recognizes individuals, companies or institutions that have carried out actions to improve Paseo de Gracia or who have contributed to its international reputation. This year, the Board of Directors unanimously awarded the prize to the Concurs Internacional de Música Maria Canals of Barcelona Association to create and consolidate the Passeig de Gràcia Porta Cua, an event that with Amics del Passeig de Gràcia and the sponsorship of Jesus Serra Foundation, celebrated its fourth edition filling the Paseo de Gracia with 10 grand pianos available to those people who wanted to play. The award, presented by the Hon. Mr. Jordi Baiget, Conseller d’Empresa i Coneixement, and Mr. Luis Sans, president of Amics del Passeig de Gràcia, was picked up by Ms. Mariona Carulla, President of Concurs Internacional de Música Maria Canals of Barcelona Association. In his speech, Mr. Luis Sans stressed the importance of a commercial schedule that includes the opening of shops on Sunday, but acknowledged that the opening of the five Sundays in spring and autumn is a first step. In addition, he also called for legal action against the Top Manta and the creation of self-management units (BIT) of the main shopping areas of the city and the claims that have been submitted to Urban Special Plan of Tourist Accommodation (PEUAT). The finale of the annual event, was the raffle of various gifts donated by some of the companies and establishments that are part of the Association.
