The Association participates in the Business Mission in China and Hong Kong

With more than 20 million Chinese traveling abroad, China is positioned as the most important tourism market in the world. Last year, Catalonia received 61% of all Chinese tourists visiting the Spain, attracted by our culture, shopping and luxury. The profile of this tourist who visits Catalonia is a young person coming from an urban population, a smartphone user who searches the Internet for relevant information about the destination and who has previously made long distance trips to other European destinations Or American.

In this situation, the Catalan Tourism Agency organized a Business Mission in China and Hong Kong led by the Consell d’Empresa i Coneixement, Jordi Baiget, with the aim of strengthening commercial relations between the Asian country and Catalonia, and counted wiith the participation of 40 Catalan companies from the tourism, food, biotechnology and automotive sectors.

The mission began with a presentation to more than 80 travel agencies and tour operators, the Association of Paseo de Gràcia and other participants, which showed the global offer of our commercial axis as well as the lifestyle experiences that can be done. During the following days, meetings were held with several leaders from the tourism sector, travel agents and tour operators.
