The new members of the Association
New members have recently joined the Passeig de Gràcia Association, which wants to welcome them among the other representatives of one of the most emblematic streets in the world.
One of them is the luxury fashion label Loro Piana (Passeig de Gràcia, 89), with a history that goes back to 1924 and which is notable for its dominance of knitwear and the use of premium materials, among them the cashmere or the Argentine vicuña, a species native to the Andes that the same firm saved from extinction. Their collections of clothing, shoes, bags and accessories are governed by ethical craftsmanship and strict processing of materials.
Another prestigious fashion brand is the French Isabel Marant, which opened a boutique in Barcelona last year, at Passeig de Gràcia, 32. Isabel Marant was founded in the 1990’s by this designer, who stands out for her taste for a bohemian aesthetic. In the store you can find women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, bags and accessories.
The Freywille jewelry brand (Passeig de Gràcia, 106), for its part, seeks inspiration in feelings such as love, joy or passion and in the work of famous artists like Vincent Van Gogh, Monet or Klimt. Combining art and elegance into timeless jewelry pieces is one of the currency of this company with over thirty years of experience, under the direction of the couple formed by manager Friedrich Wille and creative director Simone Grünberger-Wille.
Last year, the Restaurant Mr. Porter opened its doors at the Hotel Sir Victor (former Hotel Omm), located on Rosselló Street between Pau Claris and Paseo de Gracia. This brasserie combines elements of an elegant lounge and a steakhouse in an exclusive atmosphere, and also offers vegetarian options.
Another recent partner of the Association is Radio Flaix FM, a private broadcaster founded by Miquel Calzada and Carles Cuní, and owned by the Flaix Group, whose broadcasts started in 1994. Characterized for broadcasting in Catalan and dedicated to music -and specialized in dance music and electronics- this is a pioneering project as it is the oldest dance radio in Spain and the third in Europe.
Located on the legendary Illa de la Discòrdia -so named for the confluence of a number of buildings of great interest by prestigious architects- the Casa Lleó i Morera -owned by Núñez y Navarro- is a work of Lluís Domènech i Montaner who in 1906 won the prize of the annual competition of artistic buildings granted by the City council of Barcelona, and located where the old Rocamora House was. The building has belonged since 2006 to the Núñez y Navarro group, which started the rehabilitation and architectural recovery project. Casa Lleó i Morera is considered one of the emblematic works of Modernism in Barcelona.
