The music refills Pedralbes
The season of summer music festivals in Barcelona is rich and varied. Among these, one of the most prestigious is the Jardins de Pedralbes Festival, which in seven years of existence has been consolidated as one of the unmissable events for music fans in the hot months.
A few subway stops from Passeig de Gràcia, the locals and visitors can enjoy a few hours of relaxation at the end of the day listening to music outdoors in the gardens of the Pedralbes Palace, as accessible as away from the hustle and bustle of the center. It is one of the most beautiful gardens in the city and one of its main lungs, rich in biodiversity. It is worth arriving early enough to the Festival to discover the hidden corners of the Gardens, which hide gifts like two works of the architect Antoni Gaudí: a pergola covered with vines and the Fountain of Hercules, with a dragon’s head forged in iron. In the gardens there is also the Pedralbes Palace, which belonged to Count Eusebio Güell and which was the residence of the Spanish royal family on their visits to Barcelona.
Until July 15 you can enjoy the programming of this festival that bets on a wide selection of national and international artists of different styles, designed to satisfy varied tastes. Some of the artists scheduled this year are filmmaker and musician Woody Allen, who performs with The Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band; the indie group from Madrid Izal; the veteran rumba band Gipsy Kings; the pioneer of disco music Giorgio Moroder; the singer and actress Ana Belén; singer-songwriter Ramon Mirabet; pop singer Christopher Cross; the Irish folk band The Chieftains -accompanied by the Galician Carlos Núñez, a reference in Celtic music; the pioneers of electronic music Kraftwerk; the vocal quartet Il Divo; Brazilian music Gilberto Gil; Roger Hodgson, leader of the legendary band Supertramp; the Colombian Juanes; and the mythical The Beach Boys, among many others.
