We inaugurate festival season with the Primavera Sound

With the arrival of good weather, music festivals also come to Barcelona, ​​all of them with a succulent open-air offer able to satisfy the tastes of fans of the most different styles. After having walked and gone shopping in the Passeig de Gràcia, these events are a good option to enjoy music with international artists of the first level.

The festival that opens the season is the Primavera Sound, one of the most prestigious at international level and also of the most veterans: this year comes to its XIX edition, which will be held from May 30 to June 1 in the Parc del Fòrum. As always, the first day of the festival will be free, to make music accessible to all citizens and visitors. Throughout the festival you can see more than 200 performances in the various scenarios that it has.

One of the novelties that draw attention in this year’s Primavera Sound is that, for the first time, its managers have programmed a joint poster in which there are as many women as there are men. In this way, it takes a step in favor of the greater presence and visibility of women who dedicate themselves to music.

Another characteristic that stands out in this year’s programming -perhaps more than ever- is its eclecticism, in which very different styles coexist. The Catalan singer with flamenco roots and urban fusion Rosalía, one of the sensations of the year, is one of the headliners. So are the British electronic music composer James Blake, the psychedelic rock of Tame Impala and the reggaeton of J Balvin.

They will also act the 90s British rock band Stereolab -after announcing their return to the stage-, the Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker and the singer and actress Janelle Monáe. Modeselektor, Erikah Badu, Bentley Lark, Neneh Cherry, Primal Scream and Miley Cyrus are other prominent names.
