The Book Fair Of Occasion, Ancient And Modern Celebrates Its 69Th Edition In Passeig De Gràcia
From September 18th to October 4th, Passeig de Gràcia once again became the epicenter of reading and collecting fans in Barcelona, thanks to the Old and Modern Book Fair, which this year celebrated its 69th edition.
Organized by the Gremi de Llibreters de Vell de Catalunya, the Fair began on September 18th with the traditional opening speech held in front of Joan Brossa’s Monument to the Book, located at the confluence of Passeig de Gràcia and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. This year, the proclamation was made by the poet Lluís Calvo, author among others of Aconitum (1999), Electra and the road (2001) or The expulsion from paradise (2004), he was responsible for giving the starting shot to this special edition, in which safety and hygiene measures were more important than ever.
The 28 participating stops had hydroalcoholic gel, and there were capacity controls to avoid crowding so that visitors to the fair could enjoy this exciting hobby with complete peace of mind.
As for the usual exhibition that the Fair organizes, on this occasion it was dedicated to the books of the well-known Barcelona author Josep Carner, known as the prince of the Catalan poets.
It was an unbeatable opportunity to enjoy the pleasant autumn afternoons in Passeig de Gràcia, and to look at, browse through and choose from the thousands of books, some of which are true collector’s items, that we were able to see in the 69th Edition of the Book Fair of Occasion, Ancient and Modern.
