XIV edition of "Amic del Passeig de Gràcia" Awards
Last Thursday, June 6, took place the annual dinner and XIV edition of “Amic del Passeig de Gràcia” Awards. As every year, it serves to publicize the different actions that the Passeig de Gràcia Association develops during the year, as well as to reward those people who help to make known the name of our city and Passeig de Gràcia.
This year, the chosen one to receive this award has been John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA, company responsible for organizing each year the Mobile World Congress, whose headquarters is, since 2006, Barcelona.
Hotel Casa Fuster, one of the most emblematic establishments of Passeig de Gràcia, was the place chosen for the celebration of this traditional dinner and awards ceremony.
Attendees enjoyed a pleasant evening that began on the hotel terrace, where they could enjoy wonderful sunset and views that can be seen from its terrace.
Later, the dinner was held in one of the hotel rooms, where Galaxó restaurant dishes were savored, while some of the events that l’Associació has organized or participated in during the last year were shown on the screens.
As is traditional, the evening was also used to deliver the new members of the association’s pin.
With the presence of the municipal authorities in the room, the president of the Association, Lluís Sans, took the opportunity to review the activities that the Passeig has hosted in recent months, and explained the planned developments
After presenting these data, the president introduced Mr. John Hoffman with the award that distinguishes him as “Amic del Passeig de Gràcia”, and which rewards as a his work as a promoter for Barcelona’s recognition around the world.
The CEO of GSMA made a speech to thank the award, and mentioned advantages and services that make Barcelona the ideal city to host the Mobile World Congress. Gastronomy, hotel services, pleasant weather most of the year and good infrastructures make the city the perfect setting for the event.
At the end of the night, the traditional raffle was held where some attendees are awarded with gifts by members of the Association.
