One of the elements that have contributed to the fact that Barcelona is known throughout the world has undoubtedly been the work of the revolutionary architect Antoni Gaudí, one of the emblems of modernism. Gaudí was born on June 25, 1852, so this year marks the 166th anniversary of his birth.

In order to commemorate this event, Monday 25 the managing entities of the works of the great creator -from Barcelona and from the rest of Catalonia and Spain- have been coordinated to launch an unprecedented initiative: a joint action on the Internet, consisting of a series of consecutive and uninterrupted broadcasts on Facebook Live. In total there are thirteen institutions that include most of the buildings and all the museums dedicated to the figure of Gaudí.

For eight hours, the different pieces, which will be of a divulging nature, will happen live through thirty minutes for the 2,167 million active users of the social network. Thus, the program will start at 10:00 at the Gaudí Center in Reus, the hometown of the architect, and will end at Gaudí Experience in Barcelona. The Nau Gaudí from Mataró (11.00), the Casa Vicens (12.00), El Capricho from Comillas, the Episcopal Palace of Astorga (13.30) and the Casa Botines from the province of León (14.00),  the Bellesguard Tower (14.30), Park Güell (15.00), Casa Batlló (15.30), La Pedrera-Casa Milà (16.00), Güell Crypt of Colonia Güell (16.30) and Gaudí museums Exhibition Center (17.00) and Gaudí Experience (17.30) will be another highlights. The constructive chronology of Antoni Gaudí will mark the script of the audiovisual story of this marathon day of digital activity that will add eight hours of broadcast. In this time, the spectators will know the history and the cultural and tourist offer of an architectural group in which they appear five works declared Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO and that extends from Catalonia to the northwest from Spain to the localities of Comillas, Astorga and León.

Those responsible for communication and social media of the participating entities have coordinated this initiative, designed to bring Gaudí’s work to a potential audience formed by more than 430,000 followers who add different Facebook pages, plus tens of thousands of followers to other social networks such as Twitter or Instagram, where the profiles of the different equipment will be disseminated. The broadcasts will be in Catalan, Spanish or English.
