Amics del Passeig de Gràcia summit the arguments against PEUAT plan
Amics del Passeig de Gracia Association has objected to the Urban Special Plan for Tourist Accommodation (PEUAT), stating that the massification of the city is not only given by the hotel sector, the tourism that no spend the night in Barcelona, is also responsible for such agglomeration and therefore, tackle this problem by limiting the supply of tourist accommodation is an incomplete solution.
The arguments also put in relevance that the plan consider the same way hotels and tourist apartments without evaluating the contribution each type generates as well as the negative consequences generated.
The Association believes that to ensure sustainable and quality tourism in the long term, efforts should focus on properly rebalance the weight that should have different types of tourist accommodation, slowing the oversupply of low-cost accommodation and allowing moderate growth of higher categories.
