International Promotion in the Middle East

On November 17 and 18, the Passeig de Gràcia Association participated in the first edition of a virtual workshop organized by the Spanish Tourism Office of Turespaña in Abu Dhabi, responsible for the promotion in the Middle East. Given the collaboration that exists between both organizations and the close relationship resulting from various actions carried out in that region over the past two years, we were able to participate in this action free of charge.

Some 10 virtual meetings were held with representatives of travel agencies from Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, mainly, and the offer of accommodation, gastronomy, culture and shopping of our associates was presented. In addition, more informal chat and networking conversations were held with other operators. At the end of the two days, we had about 30 contacts who are already part of the Association’s database and to whom we are sending follow-up information

The Middle East is a determining factor for Passeig de Gràcia, given the cultural relationship with these countries, the large number of direct air connections, the lack of seasonality when traveling, and an average expenditure per visitor per day that is much higher than in other markets. Although it is true that customers coming from this region are mainly looking for luxury accommodation, shopping and entertainment activities, they are modifying part of their travel behavior and are beginning to show interest in such things as cruises or cultural and gastronomic experiences.
