New 5 star grand luxury hotel at Paseo de Gracia
Early next year Condes Hotels Group will open in Barcelona the five-star Monument Hotel at Paseo de Gracia, 75.
The site of this new opening is the former Hotel Condes of Barcelona, an architectural jewel of the nineteenth century turned into a 5-star luxury hotel with 84 rooms and suites. The original building facade has been preserved, its bright polychrome is a result of a combination of various materials such as exposed brickwork, stone, pottery and wrought iron; the original floral paint colors and wrought iron of the main staircase with carved marble arches have been recovered and also the courtyard. This hotel, which is already being refurbished, will have an area of 8,000 square meters, with 84 rooms between 24 and 85 square meters with balcony.
Miriam Cortijo, CEO of Monument Hotel, has explained that, although there is a “major” investment behind the renovation of this building of a clearly neo-gothic inspiration, can not give more details. She also noted that the new hotel will create 80 jobs.
The foreseen overall decor of the future hotel will feature earth tones, in a perfect balance with different decorative elements and a scenery in lumière noir shades. In addition, the furniture will be designed to meet the specific needs of every corner. The jewel of this hotel will be the Enric Batlló Suite, that has been named in honor of the original owner of the building. The 85m2 room is located on the top floor and will also have three balconies with a breathtaking panoramic view over the elegant and emblematic Paseo de Gracia.
The chef Martin Berasategui, with seven Michelin stars and 40 years at the stoves, will direct the cuisine of the hotel. He and his team will manage the different spaces included in the gastronomic offer of the new Monument Hotel.
Among other exclusive amenities, the Monument Hotel will have an outdoor swimming pool on the sixth floor, a Wellness Zone with two massage rooms, and a Fitness Room with a weight machine room, pilates and two types of sauna.
