SANT JORDI AT CASA FUSTER HOTEL

The Casa Fuster Hotel wants to celebrate Sant Jordi’s day in style and has prepared a program of activities that you are sure to love.

At 10:30 am we can enjoy a Round Table entitled “The art of binding”, with the presence of Josep Cambras, Aitor Quiney and Carles Sàiz.

The presentation will include a copy of Renaissance binding of the year 1527, examples of bindings of the modernist period in Catalonia and the most recent contemporary artistic binding.

The designs made by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner stand out for the most important Workshop of the time, that of the binder Hermenegildo Miralles in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century period.

At 12:15 we will find the presentation of the book “The Palace of Time”, Museum of Clocks of Jerez, by May Ruiz Troncoso, Dr. José Daniel Barquero, Andreu Vilasís and Alfred Peris.

The Jerez Watch Museum is the most important in the country and one of the most important in Europe. Its collection of antique watches presents the most beautiful and unique examples of the Golden Age of European watchmaking, from the 17th to the 19th century. It is the artistic work of a group of important goldsmiths, sculptors, cabinetmakers and craftsmen who house in their interior the most innovative of clock engineering in each era.

The four hundred and sixteen pages of the book “The Palace of Time”, describe the history of the clock in Europe, commenting on aspects of the society in which they were inserted, the School, the style, the different typologies and the peculiarities of each copy. The book includes photographs of the three hundred watches in the collection.

Both activities will be held at the Hotel Vienés Café.
