The great party of used books comes to Passeig de Gràcia
One of the annual events that Barcelona book lovers cannot miss is the Fira del Llibre d’Ocasió Antic i Modern, the great meeting of used books, old or second-hand, which this year reaches its 68 edition.
In these times of cultural consumption in digital media, the fair is a celebration of paper, its texture and its smell. And also the pleasure of walking, browsing, searching and discovering unexpected books. Throughout the stalls that are part of the Fira you can find discontinued and exhausted books, offers, old editions between the 16th and 19th centuries, classics in different languages, comics, prints and reproductions… A party for bibliophiles, collectors and fans of reading in general.
The Fira del Llibre d’Ocasió Antic i Modern is organized by the guild of old bookcases of Catalunya and brings together bookshop stands from Barcelona, Catalunya and throughout Spain. This year he organizes the exhibition Folklore publications in Catalunya and different talks. Mar Arza, author of this year’s poster, joins the list of prestigious artists who, edition after edition, have collaborated with the Fira. On the other hand, if a writer is appointed every year to pronounce the opening announcement, the writer Care Santos has been chosen to inaugurate this edition.
The Fira starts on September 20 -coinciding with the festivities of La Mercè in Barcelona- and ends on October 6.
