LA PEDRERA - CASA MILÀ
LA PEDRERA - CASA MILÀ
Description
Gaudí at his best: La Pedrera – Casa Milà, the transformation of nature into architecture.
Gaudí's unbounded creativity reached the peak of its development in this building at Passeig de Gràcia, in Barcelona's Eixample district.
Popularly known as La Pedrera, “the Stone Quarry” –for the sinuous appearance of its forms drawn from nature–, it was designed by Gaudí in his professional prime. Indeed, it was his last civil structure, marking a break with the architectural canons of his times. For its unique universal value, UNESCO listed this building as a World Heritage Site in 1984.
